I've decided to start blogging again. I've had a few people request that I start blogging again and this time instead of blogging on random things that peak my interest with no clear direction, I am going to follow a train of thought for as long as I can keep it interesting. You may also notice that I have changed the name of the blog. The current name is more of a reflection on how my current mind is operating.
Since this blog is going to follow a train of thought, I am going to spend some time on my background so you may have some idea of how and why my mind works the way it does and how I have formed my opinions.
I grew up in middle America. Nebraska and Indiana, middle class parents that both worked there buts off. I know we were never rich, but I never thought we were poor either. I had great grandparents, I have one sister. I started showing horses when I was 12 and turned it into a 35 year career. I finally gave up when my body started to rebel too much for me to continue. I graduated from Crete High School in Crete Nebraska and I attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln until I failed algebra three times and finally gave up on that. It seems that I am dyslexic and it doesn't matter how many times I write down an equation I will never get it the same way twice. I even had a tutor and teaching assistant ask the professor if he would pass me if I could just write down the formulas correctly. He said no and that is when I decided college wasn't the right place for me. It has taken me 30 years to regret that decision. Not having that stupid piece of paper has turned out to be a major pain in the ass.
As an adult I have had a really good life so far. I've lived in Nebraska, Indiana, Oklahoma, Texas, California, and currently have landed in Arizona, so far I've like Arizona the best. Makes me feel good. I may have one move left in me, but if I stay here until the end I can be happy with that. I have loved Arizona since the first time I came here and frankly after watching the man I thought I would spend the rest of my life with drink himself to death I came here to escape. I've been fortunate enough to find somebody that wants to spend the rest of their life with me and I'm going to do my best to make sure that never changes. I may be a slow learner, but I do learn. I am fortunate enough to amateur club race a C5 Corvette, and enjoy it more than I ever thought I would.
I have decided that if Rosy O'Donnell can express her view's on "The View" , It's time for me to start blogging again. I may be mistaken, but I think I have something to say. I have lived enough of life to know how to make an unbiased decision before I state my opinion. I assure you, all of my opinions are just that. Unbiased.
So stay tuned for my opinions. You may agree with them or not, I really don't care. What I do care about is that you respect them because it's the United States and I'm allowed to have them. I would prefer if you decided to comment on them you do it with and intelligent response and I would hope that you are smart enough to realize that I like respectful discussions about my opinions.
Until the next time, and I assure you. It's probably going to be a bumpy ride.

Shopping Shock.
I finally found a way to take a vacation. I haven't been on a vacation, without horses, or racecars since 2008. While on vacation. I decided to go by the local outlet mall and buy some clothes. I needed some new jeans, and I wanted to get some new sweats and khaki shorts. Please keep in mind, I don't shop. I buzz into a store, buy the same old thing I always wear and hurry back out. Imagine my shock when two pair of jeans cost me $79. and on sale. And I had to look for a pair that didn't look like they had been worn out and donated to the good will. Keep in mind I last bought jeans in 2008 when I was hauling for a driving title, and had enough pairs to only have to do laundry once in six weeks. I also have the largest selection of long sleeve button down Polo shirts on earth. I'm sorry jeans are supposed to be dark blue when you buy them. NOT half worn out, faded with holes and wear marks and cost $64.00 each. I"m sorry wore out jeans look like shit. They look like you shop at the goodwill. I don't care what the style is. Style is marketing gone crazy!!! It has nothing to do with common sense.
Ok now, the best part of the vacation was getting to spend it in Palm Springs with my other half. We haven't had any vacation time since christmas 2008. Palm Springs is a GREAT place to spend a few days. I read an article a few weeks ago in Phoenix magazine that said Service and food in the valley ranked 34 out of 40 for quality in U.S resort cities. I've thought that for a while, but after spending a few days in Palm Springs I can guarantee that it's probably the truth. We had GREAT service, and GREAT food everywhere we went. Meals with large portions, and good value from the local Bills Pizza place on the corner, to TRIO, an upscale downtown restaurant. Shields date farm and the Rock Garden cafe were mid range places with awesome food. and the best service. As you can see I was really impressed. I guess we have lived here long enough that I've gotten used to the service at the places we eat, and we eat at some really nice places. We had Christmas dinner at Shula's steakhouse, and the service and food there would have been at the bottom of the list in Palm Springs.
I would advise visitors to the valley to stay at the resorts and venture out to the locally owned restaurants for the good food and service. We have some good ones here in the valley, and I'm afraid most of the resorts are just average. They have such a captive audience, that they don't work very hard to impress anyone. Of course the resorts want to blame it on our political climate, but with a ranking of 34 out of 40 I think they better guess again.
Happy New Year everyone!!!

The Not So middle Middle East
I have been pretty disgusted with response, or lack of a response to the violence and attacks surrounding the U.S. embassies in the middle east. I remember when I was a child. Most of the violence occurred in the middle east. As I've gotten older the violence has steadily spread around the globe. Our values haven't changed and their values haven't changed either. What has changed as their ability to hold the rest of the world hostage. Democratic countries for whatever reasons continually allow students, business professionals, immigrants from the middle east to their countries, all in the hope, or guise that increases in education, humanity, and oil will come to and from the middle east. What really pisses me off is that every day, EVERY DAY somewhere, many times a day in several locations in the middle east, they educate people to hate the West. They train fighters to kill their people and ours. They continue to oppress their women and anyone who thinks differently than they do. All the while most western civilized people go about their everyday lives not giving any thought to whats going on in the middle east. That is until some Crackpot from here makes a film for YouTube, which I have taken the time to watch, and they get pissed off. It supplies the fuel for the radicals in the middle east to set off the violence. It is a stupid film and anybody with more than half a dozen brain cells would realize just what a farce it is. But in oppressed countries, they are just simple enough to get pissed off. Violence ensues.
I have a solution. It is the year 2012 and those that want to live in a global economy, and global society need to get a real grip on themselves because I my solution shoots that theory right in the ass. I think it's time to shut them off. No money, No food, No technology, No Education, No travel. No humanitarian aid. NO ANYTHING. Turn them off. Make them totally self sufficient. Bring our people home. Bring our businesses home. If we isolate those people totally, No more students coming here. Make them educate their own people Make them treat their own sick. Make them build their own cars and guns and raise their own food. Until they realize that they can either get along, or slowly suffocate and die. Now I realize that we will suffer too. But we have the technology and the natural resources available to us to overcome whatever we get from the middle east. And frankly it would be cheaper and safer to do so.
I realize I'm going to take a lot of shit for having this opinion, but frankly when is enough. If those peoples choose, CHOOSE not to evolve with the rest of the world, then it's time to leave them behind.

An American President.
Last night I met a friend for snacks and happy hour at a little Irish pub in Chandler, the quality has taken a real dive, but that is fodder for another blog. As always happens this time of year the conversation turned to politics and I made the statement that I wanted a true American to run for president. I was asked what is that, what is an American, I answered of course but since then I've had a little time to think about it and here is a better answer.
My American president could be of any lineage, Black, White, Asian, Indian, I really don't have a preference. I'd like him to be well spoken, a good speech giver, the kind of individual that takes the microphone and starts to speak and everybody listens. Someone who can command respect as a leader in a room full of leaders from other nations. I don't have any preference for military service, but I expect him to have a deep respect for the military, and have the intelligence for when is the right time to flex our military might and when it's time to send them in and defend our interests. I don't care what his religious beliefs are. Those are none of my business anyway, and being in America we are guaranteed the separation of church and state anyway, so I would hope that while I would respect his deep convictions of his own faith. He had the intelligence to make his own decisions on policy and human rights and not base those on some interpretation of the bible. It is the year 2012 he should respect human rights, he should respect equal rights for men, women, gays, lesbians, they get their own category because there is nothing like them, and people of all ethnicity's and religious beliefs. I want him to be strong enough to stand up to the various political parties in the united states and walk down the middle of the road so to speak and have the guts to tell them when they have gone too far. He should be strong enough to tell the senate and the congress to get off their asses and make the right choices. You see it's the year 2012, it's not about Republican or Democrat, or tea party or independent. We are the United States for Christs sake!! He should tell the public utilities to get off their collective butts and develop safe nuclear energy, wind, solar and hydro power and do it now so that we can save what fossil fuels we have left can be used economically. I understood in High School. over 20 years ago that fossil fuels were a finite commodity. We can put a man on the moon, Shuttle into space, support a multinational space station, Land a rover on mars that has enough power to transmit back to us experiments that it is going to conduct for two years!!!! and we haven't developed viable energy alternatives yet. That my friends is inexcusable. My Corvette gets 30mpg on the highway and has a smaller carbon imprint that a Pruis and marketing has convinced us that we are saving the world by driving them. Chevy produced the Volt, which is a great car, because they had to, to get their bail out. Government should not have that kind of power.
My American president would have to guts to run the special interest groups and lobbyisst right out of Washington. One of his main agendas would be to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. Tax breaks for small and large businesses that can manufacture American made products, Benefits to those that can do it with the least amount of pollution produced. I expect him to take health care by the neck and choke the graft and waste out of the system. Above all he is intelligent enough to overhaul our tax code, make is simple enough that we would be proud to support the programs that it would be needed for.
You show me a candidate that has the guts to Run on that platform and he will get 100% of the support of the American Public. The President who believes in America strong enough to run on a platform to reform and rebuild the very things that made America so great in the first place. The American president who can defend the beliefs that our forefather fought so hard and risked so much for would undoubtedly be the American President because he would have the backing of all us Americans.
Somebody please find me that candidate so we can be proud of our American President again.

Defining Moments
I believe that everyone has at least one defining moment in their lives. Some people have more than one. I believe these moments can define ones life, either for themselves, or for other people. They can change their lives when they have these moments, or not, the same goes for their friends, supporters, or others within their sphere of influence.
I have had a few defining moments in my life. Each time I've recognized that I need to make a change in my life and I have. Either for better or not, but it has been a wholesale change, and I haven't gone back later and said I need a do over. I've watched friends, individuals I've done business with, acquaintances, and people that I have never met, and people in the public eye have defining moments. I've based some of my decisions on how they have reacted to their own defining moments.
The September 11th attacks on the world trade center was the defining moment for George Bush's presidency. I believe it shaped the rest of his elected years, and may have shaped the rest of his personal life as well. For me his defining moment and how he handled the attacks was a defining moment for me. It shaped how I would perceive his presidency.
I believe that today was one of those moments for Barack Obama. The two attacks on the U.S. embassy's were an opportunity for him to step into the role as the most powerful leader in the free world. Weather or not he felt they were a defining moment in his life, they were a defining moment for me. You see good or bad, religious beliefs, personal beliefs aside. I prefer a president that is a leader. Just like the boss at work that you may hate, but you respect because he is a really good boss, because he is good at his job so you try to do a good job as well.
Today Barack Obama failed at being a leader. You see Republican or Democrat, or Independent, Methodist, Catholic, or Muslim, if you live in the United States as a citizen of the United States, there are certain rights and privileges that you are allowed. The right to bear arms, the right to worship as you choose, the right of freedom of speech just to name a few. As the president of the United States, you are elected by the people because the majority of the people believe that you will uphold those rights. You believe in them as well. You believe they are worth fighting for. You were not elected to force your beliefs on the people. You work for us. In the same way that if you are the president of the United States. We the people will do our best to defend you. There are men in the presidential secret service detail that protect you and your family who may not have the same political agenda, and religious beliefs but they will defend you to the death if for no reason except for pride in their jobs. If you actually believe that you need to apologize for a non main stream film on YouTube because it offends a small faction of radical Muslims. Then you Mr President are no leader and do not deserve to be the leader of the United States. Freedom of speech allows us the opportunity to produce films, music, write books, even write in this blog. Apologizing for that right is a disgrace to your office and an embarrassment to the People of the United States.
Regardless of your beliefs on gay rights, the women's right to choose what to do with her body, health insurance coverage, or your own religious beliefs. I can look past all that. What I can't look past is your continual disdain for the very rights that allowed you the very successes that you have achieved. YOU BARACK OBAMA DO NOT DESERVE TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. I may not like Mitt Romney, in fact most of his policies are just as offensive as yours, but above all I believe he is an American and will protect those rights which our forefathers fought so hard for.

Why I work at home, I'm not equipped for the real world.
Tonight at around 8:30 I decided to go to the grocery store for some ground turkey to make some nachos. It was dark outside. I was driving the Cadillac. Thankfully it is slow. While driving up McClintock in the dark some idiot MEXICAN and his family stepped off the MEDIAN in the middle of the block between the street lights and I did not see him until it was almost too late. I had to slam on the brakes and lock up the wheels coming completely to a stop to keep from killing him and his family. Two little kids and a fat wife. I get to say fat because right now I am pretty fat myself and yes that pisses me off too!! He is very lucky that I was not in a hurry and driving below the speed limit because the Caddy does not stop like the Vette and with that big grill and sporty air damn I would have managed to hit all four of them had I not got stopped. The big dumbass just stood in front of me shouting at me in his native language, which might as well be our native language because we are slowly giving our country to them, and flipping me off. Never mind that it scared the living shit right out of me!!! Just imagine the nightmare of running down a child because their dumbass parent has pulled them out into the street in front of a moving vehicle. They slowly walked across the rest of the street and went on their merry way. My evening only gets better from here. I chose to go to Albertsons because it is the closest store to my house. I am either insane, or a REALLY slow learner because I basically hate that store. It smells like an combination of old grease, dead fish, and fried chicken. EVERYDAY, NO MATTER WHAT TIME YOU GO THERE!!! I also know that going there after 8 pm ensures that there will be only one checkout open and this Albertsons is so backward that they don't have a self checkout lane. I pick up my ground turkey and head to the checkout and I think I am lucky as hell because the woman in front of me is already almost done. She only has a half a dozen items and just as I walk up the cashier gives her the total. Well guess what!! She opens a ziplock bag full of change and dumps it out on the counter. Of course that is only half of the story now I am VERY pissed off because she is about 350# and Mexican. I say Mexican and not Hispanic, because the last time I looked there was no such country as Hispania, and I am pretty sure that they call me Gringo, or that asshole from America. After enduring what seemed to be like 20 minutes while the cashier counted out the change he tells her she doesn't have enough. Guess what happens next. Her 3.5' tall daughter has to translate for her that she doesn't have enough, then they have to have this conversation about what item to take back. At this point I show the cashier that my Ground Turkey cost $3.99 hand him a $5.00 bill tell him to put the change in the Humane Society box and walk out the door. Thankfully he understands and doesn't try and stop me.
Now I am sorry if this has offended some of you and I am sure it will. Especially if you don't live here in AZ, but you have no idea how much our everyday lives are affected by illegal immigrants here. I don't know that they were illegal, but it's pretty hard to think otherwise when they have no respect for our laws or the common sense to respect our society here in America.
I don't have any issue with people of ethnic decent. I have friends from all over the world. All ethnicity's, Part of the reason I haven't been to Europe is because I don't know any foreign language besides the German that I learned in High School and I don't want to look anymore like a dumb American than I already will. I will go when I understand enough languages, and can afford a good translating device and can enjoy it and I promise you I will travel and treat the locals with the respect that they and the customs of their countries deserve.
I'm sorry I think it's time to close our borders completely until we get our own country under control.

The Unbearable truth.
First of all let me say if your not honest enough to read this post with an open mind stop now. Those of you who really know me know that I may make a lot of noise from time to time, but basically I am a very open minded individual. I try to make informed honest decisions based on my understanding of the realities at hand. Recently a few things are really pissing me off and so I am going to expound on them a little.
The Presidential race. First of all frankly we are stuck with TWO candidates that will not be good for the country. As I see it you will have to chose between the lesser of two evils. My choice obviously is Romney, not because I am a Republican, but because I believe that at least he likes America. I worked for a company that was purchased by Bain Capitol and divested while Romney was CEO and I can say with out a doubt he didn't have a clue what goes on with the day to day operations of Bain Capitol, and if he did, he wouldn't care anyway. Bain Capitol buys and sells companies, re-organizes, and divests the investments it makes exploiting the tax and business laws as they are written here in the United States. They are in the business to make money for their shareholders. That my friends is not Romney's fault, but the fault of all of the elected officials who have manipulated the laws to that end. The last I heard it was not illegal to run a business and make a profit. How businesses are allowed to do that is based upon our current laws and if you don't like that then it's time to elect a group of people who are going to change that.
I don't care what his views are on same sex marriage. Time and again the opinion is expressed by presidential candidates and it has no effect on my life. The gay community has yet to provide a respectfully organized movement to work toward marriage equality and until it does, all the marching and whining and voting for a particular candidate who gives lip service to the issue is just a waste of time and it pisses off the people who are against it.As far as Obama repealing the Don't ask Don't tell law with regard to sexual orientation while serving in the military. Big deal. We all know that there are more men and women serving in the military that are gay, than have come forward and admitted it. I absolutely believe that those fantastic individuals that serve in the armed forces don't care what sex you are sleeping with. They want to know that you will serve to the best of your ability and have their back when it counts. In the military, above all else while serving to protect our way of life and provide security for our country and other countries who are unable to protect themselves. Sexual orientation has no place. Just watch the movie A Few Good Men, and at the very end after the verdict is read and one of the privates questions the verdict, the other one explains they serve to protect those who can't protect themselves and they failed that duty. When it comes to abortion, guess what, I don't have a uterus and I don't believe that those who don't have one, should be involved in this argument. Leave it up to the women, they bear children, let them fight amongst themselves and figure this out.
I support Romney for one reason and one reason only. I believe that he supports the American Way of life. Our rights, Our beliefs, Our laws. Our right to make choices in our own lives. It's our job to elect a group of congressmen and senators who will fight for our beliefs as well, and that my friends we fail to do in every single election.
As far as Obama is concerned. He scares me. I have read COUNTLESS articles that he has written, his books and some of the speeches that he has made throughout his career. Frankly. I don't believe that he respects or believes in the American way of life. One of the things that distresses me the most is some of the people who support him are among the most intelligent people that I know. With truly noble and respectable beliefs that are good for America, and they attach their support to someone who blatantly gives lip service to their causes so that he can win votes. They are smarter than that, they deserve better than that, and so does the American people. Frankly I think he embarrasses the United States as much as George Bush ever did.
I am a small business owner. Yes I chose this life and I am proud that I did. I am intelligent enough to know that it was going to be a struggle to start a new business in this economy. Electing Obama threatens my way of life more than electing Romney does. We have a bill of rights that provides us with the OPPORTUNITY to live as we choose. The OPPORTUNITY it is up to us to make the best of it, and to protect that bill of rights. Obama's basic beliefs circumvent this bill of rights.
One thing I hope all of you remember. If I count you as one of my friends, and allow you to become one of my friends, I respect your beliefs regardless of what they are, you are my friend because I value you as a person, not because of your political beliefs or your sexual orientation, what nationality you are or the color of your skin.I do not take our differences to a personal level. You are my friend because I like you and respect you. Just the way you are.
